SPECIALIZED & TW VIRTUAL FITTINGS
One of the best features of the Specialized & TW Saddles is that they can easily be adjusted to continue to fit as your horse changes or if you change horses. If you are too far away for us to meet in person and would like help fitting your Specialized or TW Saddle register below.
These are the 3 places that we need to measure to determine which size cushions and shims your saddle needs to fit your horse. The measuring instructions will give you more details about measuring as well as a flexible ruler and 11" x 17" paper for your tracings. Your tracings will be life size and therefore must come in the snail mail so that I can measure them like I do in person.
To speed up the process, you can purchase a 24' flexible ruler and I will email the forms and directions. The tracings will be life size and still need to be returned via snail mail, however a first class letter (tracings without a ruler) will be a lot quicker then waiting for the package both ways. And since the saddle fit should be checked every 6 months, you will need the ruler for future fittings as well.
After I receive your measurements and we have determined that you have the correct size cushions and shims, we will set up a time to get together and adjust your saddle via Facetime or Pivo. To prepare for your appointment:
- Allow at least an hour for your fitting. Please don't have any other appointments for your horse on the day of the fitting. Shoes, vet and body workers should all be scheduled for a different day. You should allow a little extra time in case you need to adjust and ride a couple times.
- Plan to work in an area with good cell phone service.
- Have a helper to run your camera and/or hold your horse.
- Gather up all your cushions, shims, a pair of scissors, phillips screwdriver and a table or blanket to lay your saddle on.
After we adjust your saddle, you will ride for about 10 minutes without a saddle pad so that we can see what the saddle is doing while riding. A pivo or camera person is required for this portion of the fitting.
A good impression shows that the saddle stayed in the middle during the ride, didn't slide back or forward, left or right. The hair should all be smooth and the lines on top and bottom should match.
