November 2025
I hope the enewsletter finds you and yours doing well. I am feeling great, working, riding and enjoying life. God is good.
We are putting together a list to make a trip to Oak Mt. Park in Birmingham. Let me know if you want to be on the list. When we get enough people one or both of us will make the trip.
This morning while I was scheduling appointments (yes I am definitey still working), I mentioned that if I can't get there asap that Baley is also doing appointments so no one has to wait. The client said something like "I would rather wait for you." It reminded me of when I worked for the vet.
Back in the 90's, I worked with my vet for about a year while his vet tech was out on maternity leave. Dr. Gorse was an older gentleman. He was a great vet and very popular. But Doc was getting older and wanted to slow down a little bit, not completely but a little, so he took on a partner. The new vet was much younger and had no ties to the community. No one knew him and no one wanted to schedule with him.
Since I was answering the phone and scheduling appointments, I was well aware of the resistance to the new vet. Doc was everyones friend. Doc had more experience for sure, but this new guy had just finished school and knew a lot of new stuff. He was faster than Doc and he didn't waste as much time talking to his friends/clients. He also had access to Doc literally 24/7 because the vet clinic was at the Doc's house.
I am sure you can see where I am going with this. As I focus more on the healing plan, Baley has been taking some of the appointments on her own. I am so grateful that she is not only more than able but she is available to help your horses with their saddles.
What I have learned about Baley in the past few years is that she is absolutely 100% dependable. She will do what she says and she will do it when she said. (Last week, I messed up the schedule and ended up with 2 private lessons coming almost at the same time). Although she is also running a dog training business and helping her Husband with their rentals, she has a flexible schedule so she can do fittings and evaluations usually sooner than I can. She is constantly researching and studying. (I know because she shares with me almost every day). Most of all, Baley is observant. Whether it's seeing and rescueing a wet kitten in a 50 acre field or seeing uneven fenders 50' away, I am always amazed at the things she picks up on. I have also noticed that she has been paying attention, we think alike and she can literally finish my sentences.
As my healing journey continues, I have realized that the alternative treatments alone are not working fast enough. I am starting to work with a new oncologist and have faith that we are moving forward in a positive direction. A huge part of my journey has been getting Baley certified so that all the horses depending on me will be taken care of. I feel good that we are there.
I want to thank all of your for your prayers and support. I sincerely appreciate each and every one. I am looking forward to good health, good horses, nice saddles and God's many blessings. I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving.
